My name is Steve Chaplin. I'm a freelance writer specialising in therapeutics. I've been doing this since 1988, after a formative decade as a pharmacist in the NHS.

I live in Hexham, a small market town in Tynedale, Northumberland. It's famous for winning the Country Life magazine “England's Favourite Market Town” award in 2005 and, fortunately, for little else. It has excellent transport connections to the outside world: Newcastle International Airport is 40 minutes' drive away and the east and west coast rail lines are both within an hour. It's only a couple of hours' drive to Glasgow and Edinburgh.

Hexham is an historic town, steeped in Borders history and sitting on the banks of the River Tyne only a few miles from Hadrian's Wall. This is just about the upper limit of the Pennines range: we're on the northern edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and south of the Northumberland National Park. It's nice up here.
